Mireia DG plays house and tech house in Barcelona, with residencies
at ElDirty (Razzmatazz), ANTI (Sala Apolo) and the House Room at Bananas (Sala Safari).
Her sets are built on groove and on what the floor is doing, not on spectacle.
She doesn't arrive with a set. The shape of the night comes from
reading the room while it happens: which record holds, which one has to wait, when
the floor is ready to be taken somewhere and when it needs to be left alone.
There is a reason that read is fast. Music does not reach her as
sound first and feeling afterwards. She is synesthetic: sound, sensation and image
arrive at once. What that builds is a groove physical enough that dancing stops
being a decision.
House and tech house, nothing else. Winner of the Lovin Ibiza DJ
Contest at national level and semifinalist at ElRow. Selected through the festival's
own DJ contest, she made her festival debut on the Open Stage at Brunch Electronik,
Parc del Fòrum, Barcelona.

Groove is the
only language
House and tech house the way both were meant to feel: physical,
warm, impossible to sit through. The selection is not decided in advance. It is
decided against the room, one record at a time.
A record that works at one in the morning is the wrong record
at three, and the difference is not in the tempo. It is in what the room has
already given and what it still has left.
When it lands, the floor stops keeping time with anything
outside itself. For a few hours, nothing outside that moment exists.

The room goes dark.
That's where it starts.
House was never built for daylight. It came out of Chicago
basements, rooms with the lights kept low, where nobody was there to be looked at.
That was not decoration. It was the condition that made the thing work.
In the dark the crowd stops being a set of individuals watching
a DJ and becomes one thing, moving without having agreed to move. Nobody is
performing for anybody.
Mireia DG builds for that. A groove made to reach the body before
it reaches the argument. She is synesthetic: sound, sensation and image arrive all
at once, which is what makes the read fast enough to be useful at three in the
morning.
No two nights come out the same.
That is not a side effect. It is the product.
